Course Description

Each year a number of people are injured or killed in “Confined Spaces”. Many of these casualties are other employees attempting to rescue their co-workers without proper training and equipment. This training program informs students of the requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 in order to better prepare employees to work safely in and around confined spaces.

 


Objectives
  • Understand the potential for physical and chemical hazards in confined spaces
  • Be aware of the permit-required system to enter confined spaces
  • Understand the duties of confined space entrants, attendants, and supervisors
  • Know the need for atmosphere monitoring and ventilation
  • Be familiar with non-entry rescue methods
  • Be aware of lockout and tagout requirements 
 


Accreditation

A continuing education unit (CEU) is defined as I0 contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.  CEUs provide a measure of educational achievement, and are widely recognized by employers, industry, professional associations, and certification and licensing agencies as evidence of education progress.  

This course is approved for 0.8 CEUs

$65.00 – Prepayment is required prior to attending the course. On-Site registration is available. Please bring payment and registration form with you. Participants who register on-site will receive certificates in the mail after successfully completing the course requirements.

 


The Sunshine ERC at the University of South Florida reserves the right to cancel this activity for any reason whatsoever. In the event of such cancellation, the full enrollment fee will be returned to the registrant. In the event of an individual cancellation no refunds will be issued. Registration may be transferred to another registrant without penalty at any time.
