Domestic and Worksite Violence: Strategies for Identification and Intervention

Course Description

Florida Department of Health requires that licensees under Chapters 491 and 464 complete a course on domestic violence every third renewal. Understanding how worksite violence and domestic violence are related will be addressed to meet the licensure requirement, as well as to raise awareness of the workforce of the connection between domestic violence and worksite violence.

 

 

Target Audience
  1. Nurses
  2. Mental Health Professionals (Licensed Clinical Social Workers [LCSW], Licensed Mental Health Counselors [LMHC], Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists [LMFT)
  3. Occupational/hospital risk managers
  4. Employee health professionals

 

 
 

 

Objectives

1. Recognize indications and symptoms of domestic violence

2. List ways that domestic violence affects the workplace

3. Discuss available community resources to address domestic and worksite violence

 


Accreditation

Florida Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors:
The University of South Florida College of Public Health is an approved provider (BAP#433 – Exp. 3/31/09) of continuing education credits for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling. The 3-hour course has been reviewed and approved for up to 3 50-minute contact hours.

Nurses:
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This activity is for 3 contact hours.
